Choose on the easiest screen
A phone is often quicker for typing a title than a television remote. Find the movie here, note the year and select viewing options for your country. Then open the supported viewing service on the television. This lets you use the smaller screen for choosing and the larger one for the film.
Browser, app or casting
A Smart TV browser can load a title page without supporting every video player equally well. Compare the service's TV application when one is available. Casting and screen mirroring are different methods, and their support depends on the device and service. Check audio output as well as the picture after connecting.
Cropped or awkward fullscreen
Exit fullscreen and compare the normal player frame. Inspect the television's picture-size settings if the edges remain cropped. On a computer, browser zoom and video fullscreen are separate controls. On a phone, orientation lock can prevent the landscape view you expected. Change one setting at a time.
